Commission Approves Liberty Park Tree Planting

NJ LONG BRANCH — Long Branch Environmental Commission approves Liberty Park tree planting. The Environmental Commission unanimously approved planting eight to ten trees at the northwest corner of Union Avenue and Liberty Street, with the New Jersey Tree Foundation handling scheduling. City Council Liaison Glen Rassas reported that Liberty Park tree planting also received city council approval for fall 2026 implementation.
Community Development Director Abel Gomez reported concurrent heat island mitigation work adding tree canopy and bioswales to reduce urban temperatures.
